Three US senators ask the State Department to demand the release of political prisoners in Azerbaijan
What happened
Peter Welch, Tim Kaine and Thom Tillis wrote to Secretary of State Marco Rubio: the release of journalists, opposition figures and civil society activists should be a condition of a strategic partnership agreement with Azerbaijan. The senators add that they support the administration's efforts to advance peace in the region.
